Amore Vero

Tucked away some 100 metres from Bishop square, near the Gilão River, Amore Vero restaurant has been gathering admirers from all over the world, especially those who love Italian cuisine with an unexpected twist.

After a day wandering around the beautiful cobbled streets of Tavira city centre, this is probably the best way to spend your night while indulging on excellent food, prepared only with the freshest ingredients bought at local markets and small Italian producers in the region.

Amore Vero restaurant was founded in an ancient house, traditional of the Algarve region, by a young, thriving couple, Sara and Ricardo, the firsts bringing such a gastronomic concept into Tavira’s typical restaurant hub. Their passion has led them to build a place with a great atmosphere, both inside and outside, where they assembled a nice, cosy terrace for visitors to enjoy mostly during warm summer nights.

The menu is seasonal and dynamic, offering a wide variety of dishes inspired by Italian cuisine and flavours from Portugal as well. Meat, fish and seafood lovers will be in for a treat, but vegetarians are welcome to try other lovely options, such as fresh pasta, risotto, and other delicacies alike.

Begin with marinated olives, sundried tomatoes, and fresh ricotta, as you wait for the starters to come. When the right time arises, ask for the homemade chicken liver mousse served with berry jam, as you slowly enter this epicurean journey.

For mains, order the Linguini with porcini mushrooms in a creamy sauce with freshly grated parmesan cheese or the Risotto with asparagus and scallop served with pink peppercorns.

If you really wish to live the full Italian experience, try the selection of Italian cheeses, which includes smoked ricotta and pecorino with truffles.

As you enjoy your meal, there is nothing like a good wine to go along and complement the lovely dishes, and Amore Vero restaurant is fairly up to the task when it comes to a remarkable wine list with bottles from Portugal’s most famous wine regions, but also from abroad.

This is definitely a place to spend a couple of hours enjoying the atmosphere, the lovely and enthusiastic staff and, of course, the food. Although you can choose a three-course seasonal menu for about € 18, make sure you take more than just your debit or credit card, as it doesn’t allow for such payment methods, and the prices are usually adjusted to each dish and season.

Amore Vero restaurant will surely make you come back for more.
