Guest House Solar do Magoito

Most guests visiting Sintra in Portugal arrive at Lisbon airport, head for the hills and check into one of the many rural or town-centre hotels the area has to offer. But if you are travelling in a group and in search of something a little bit different, with the space to spread out and be yourselves and the flexibility to do what you want, when you want, the Guest House Solar do Magoito is a compelling option.

The house is in a unique location set within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, offering accommodation for up to 12 guests in 700 m2 of built area and 11,400 m2 of private garden to be enjoyed by your group, and your group alone.

The house offers a mix of accommodation in four distinct areas, ensuring that family groups or groups of friends have sufficient space to mingle and enjoy each other’s company while also benefiting from plenty of privacy and the chance to get away from it all.

Guest House Solar do Magoito offers a wonderful array of facilities including a small covered pool (heatable up to 32 degrees), larger recreational pool, children’s playground, private tennis court and living/games room with satellite TV and billiard table. Tennis racquets and balls, pool towels, bicycles and surfboards are all provided free of charge to help guests make the most of their leisure time.

The Guest House Solar do Magoito’s large and well-equipped kitchen is ideal for preparing snacks or large meals and guests can choose whether to eat in the spacious dining room or outside in the al fresco dining area complete with built-in barbecue.

For guests who are really in search of some away-from-it-all luxury, the house can accommodate an in-house chef who will be on hand to prepare you gourmet meals, ready and waiting on the table when you return from a day of exploring the romantic town of Sintra some 10 kilometres away, the local natural park on the doorstep, or the lovely beaches that this corner of Portugal is so famous for.

Sintra itself is just begging to be explored, for its long history as the summer retreat of Portugal’s former Royal Family and its UNESCO World Heritage architecture and monuments. Wander through the maze of streets leading high up on the peak of Sintra Mountain, explore the castles, palaces and monuments that line the hillsides and marvel at the sweeping views over lush greenery and out to the Atlantic beyond.
