Sui Generis

Since its inauguration in 2007, the Suigeneris Restaurant has become one of Faro’s favourite leisure destinations, located right on the beach between the Praia de Faro and the Ria Formosa Natural Park. Laid out over three floors, Suigeneris comprises a restaurant, bar and terrace, all in a modern, contemporary building.Restaurant Sui Generis Sunset

The décor is minimalist and sophisticated yet welcoming and features floor-to-ceiling glass walls to provide panoramic views out over the sand and water to all those seated within.

The restaurant draws a fun-loving crowd of young and old. It appeals to well-heeled locals and out-of-town tourists as a breath-taking retreat for a leisurely lunchtime indulgence, where they can enjoy a special meal matched by a special view, accompanied by ambient house tunes that provide a relaxed atmosphere without being loud enough to be intrusive.

Restaurant Sui Generis Signature Dish

By night the vibe changes and Suigeneris Restaurant transforms itself into one of Faro’s most sought-after and exclusive nightspots. There is a bar and dancefloor area in addition to the main restaurant and a sweeping wooden deck that wraps itself around the ground floor of the restaurant, perched right on the fine sands of Faro’s shoreline. This is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail at sundown and put the world to rights.

Suigeneris Restaurant specialises in its own unique fusion cuisine, which mixes the traditional flavours of Portugal and timeless Asian classics with great success. Unsurprisingly, fish features strongly on the menu and the talented chef, Gilberto Silva, skilfully transforms national favourites into modern fusion gastronomic delights. Fish soup, octopus salad, hake fillet and a delicately flavoured prawn risotto are delicious washed down fruity whites from the extensive wine list.Sui Generis Beach View

For lighter bites a tapas menu features in the café area where €15 buys a healthy snack to accompany a cool beer or natural fruit juice on the terrace. In keeping with its Asian influences, Suigeneris Restaurant also features a wide range of freshly made sushi, from individual portions of sashimi and maki to a large varied plate perfect for sharing with a group of friends.

Suigeneris Restaurant is easy to get to and has plenty of parking for its guests. This is a “grown up” location and not suitable for children other than possibly at with a small group seated on the exterior terrace for lunch. Average prices for two are €35 without wine and all major cards are accepted.
