The restaurant has a long tradition and is well known in Braga. Established in 1953 by Joaquina Maria Soares Gomes, it was handed down through the family to Maria Irene Gomes Oliveira, who runs it today together with chef José Manuel da Cunha Gomes. The pair makes a great effort to embrace the traditions of this Braga landmark, whilst also embracing modern developments in Portugal’s culinary scene.
The dining room is relatively small, making for a warm and friendly atmosphere, enhanced by the ancient exposed stone walls and contrasting white and silver tableware. This is a place for groups and parties, families with children and couples looking for a romantic meal for two. Bookings are recommended, as tables are limited, however walk-ins are also welcome yet subject to availability.
Bem-Me-Quer Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner from 12pm to 3pm and from 7pm to 10pm, from Monday to Wednesday and on Friday and Saturday, and from 12pm to 3pm for lunch only on Sundays. It is closed on Thursdays.
There is ample parking outside and it is also easily accessible on foot or by bus or train. The train station is 400 metres away and the nearest bus stop is just 50 metres away. Expect to pay around 20 euros per head. All major credit cards accepted.
